Building a Man Cave

While my friend’s husband was away on his most recent tour of duty with the Army, she decided to surprise him by making a home renovation just for him. My friend added a “man cave” to her house. For those of you who don’t know, a man cave is like a den specifically for the men of the house to enjoy. Common man cave features include (but are not limited to): a big screen TV, video game consoles, exercise equipment, and a bar. As my friend had had a detached garage recently added to her home, she decided to convert the existing attached garage to a man cave. My friend is certainly not the DIY type, so she decided to call a construction company in Broward to manage the task.

The construction company was certainly well-equipped to handle this type of project. They finished and
painted the previously concrete garage walls and put in a hardwood floor. Bringing in an electrician, they ran wiring and installed air-conditioning – an absolute must in this Florida heat. They connected the plumbing and built a short wall, in preparation for the bar. When it was finished, the man cave boasted not only a bar with a sink and stools, but also a pool table, plasma TV, comfy couches and a state-of-the art pool table. My friend was so pleased with the room that she almost spilled the beans, but ended up being able to keep it a secret until her husband got home.

Her husband loved his new man cave and thought that the construction company in Broward did a great job. After living through the stress of military duty, he now has a place to relax alone or kick back with his buddies over a beer and a football game. A loving wife, a beautiful family, great friends, and his own sanctuary: what more could a man ask for?

Remodeling with Colors

I think a big part of the beauty of a house or a room has to do with colors. You can remodel a home and get all the expensive furniture, ornaments, and other items in the world, but if they don’t come in the right color the aspect of the room will simply not be appealing to the human eye.

For every color, there must be hundreds of shades. And it is important that you know that before you start a remodeling project in your house. There are also some tricks you can use to create a very powerful image in a given room, something that nobody will miss. Have you ever entered a room in which something specific catches your eye and it’s kind of like the center of the room? That is exactly what I am talking about.

During a residential remodeling project you should take advantage of colors and the beauty they can provide to lighten up a room. One of my favorite tricks is getting neutral tones for pretty much everything in a room and picking something shiny and extravagant so that it stands out and it becomes the center of the room.

This picture reflects exactly what I mean. All of the colors are pretty much neutral, from the walls to the couch. And then you have the two chairs and the cushions in such vivid red that they would surely be what stands out in that room. It creates such a strong image and it is simply attractive. This is the beauty of colors.

Small Home Improvements that Make a Difference

Boca Raton is a really nice area to live in, and being surrounded by so many lovely homes that seem to be remodeled every year might make you really jealous and really tempted to be part of the homeowners who are constantly investing money on their houses. But if you can't afford to spend a lot of money remodeling your Boca Raton home every year, don't worry! You don't have to spend a fortune and you don't need to make drastic  changes in your home to make it look astonishing again.

Small home improvements can make a difference, too. One of the things that really gives away that a home hasn't been given maintenance is paint. A new, fresh coat of paint will make your house look brand new again! Also, it is important to understand that you don't need to remodel your entire house to make it noticeable. Sometimes remodeling a key room will make a huge difference. That key room can be your kitchen.

If you are looking to remodel your kitchen or any other room in your Boca Raton home you can contact Red and Blue Constructions. They provide a wide variety of services and no matter how small your remodeling project is, they will be more than willing to serve you and give you ideas. With over 40 years of experience in the construction trade, they sure know how to make a house shine!

In Boca Raton, prefabricated or remodeled?

This was my big question when I moved to Boca Raton. Being fully aware of the costs of each option (or at least having a good idea of what each choice could represent) I went ahead and did further research such as looking around while I drove ‘’house hunting’’ in residential complexes or just around the streets. I saw most of the homes had similar design patters and in some areas they looked identically the same.

I never wanted this for my house, I am a very creative and original person so therefore, what I displayed on my ‘’sacred temple’’ really mattered to me. This last conviction was my ultimate motivator to go with the option of remodeling. I contacted some firms in the Boca Raton area and once I bought a home at a reasonable price, they came in and wrote down every single detail I described as my preferences. They were very thorough in their efforts which was something I really liked.

First, I explained how I wanted wooden floor instead of carpet, after all this was Boca Raton! Going with the carpet option somehow made it feel out of place. Second, was my favorite room in the house, the living room. The place where I would have most of my family gatherings, entertaining affairs and where I would hang around to read a fine novel or watch a good documentary. In this part of the house, I made it very clear to them that I was a very spiritual person. The décor in that room had to represent what I considered to be good energy catalysts. I wanted the flow in the room to have synergy with all the other areas. This of course made my house feel more like a home and in the process it helped me ensure that each person that walked through my doors would feel as I would like to feel when I visited their homes: welcome.

Remodeling in Boca Raton

A few years ago, I was perhaps one of 10 people crying on my movie theater row at the sight of Owen Wilson caressing Marley’s hair right before its death (Marley was his dog). It has really been one of the most moving and real life portrayals I have seen in my lifetime. In this movie (Marley & Me) which also features Jennifer Anniston, the couple moves to Boca Raton because of safety concerns and the fact that they had just had a baby.

When I saw those houses in Boca Raton I was extremely surprised at how neat and well-organized this community looked! Their house was great also, but the fact that 3 babies and a golden retriever lived in it was perhaps too much of a crowd for my taste. So I pictured myself owning a house like that on a similar town if not the same. I called this mental visualization: ‘’The Remodeling inBoca Raton project’’. I would first take over their house, remove all the kids toys, organize the living room a little better making it look perhaps more minimalistic and elegant and definitely adding a poolside bar (I’m in my twenties, it only seems logical I would make such a change).

Being my age, for some reason I have been feeling a home owning itch. That’s the only name I can give to this lingering anxiety to decorate, rearrange and to gaze and amaze both myself and others with what I think is the definition of good indoor decoration taste. Even if ‘’remodeling in Boca Raton’’ never comes to fruition, I can certainly picture myself living near the beach, with year round tropical temperatures and umbrella-toting concoctions for me and my guests (I love entertaining).

If you saw the movie, you probably remember how the young couple eventually moved to Philadelphia so that Owen (who was a columnist for the Miami Herald) could then chase his journalism calling for the Philadelphia Inquirer. I never got quite the same thrill from looking at that brick house and the cold winters in Pennsylvania. I guess I’m just a Boca Raton kind of girl.
